Pique* in the Project Runway finalists fall collections for Fashion Week? No, of course not. There was however, lace, leather and silk. I know this because while tonight’s television episode showed home viewers the final studio challenge, the Fashion Week collections were seen in NYC on February 10th.
As was done last year, the final four competitors all showed, so the surprise would not be spoiled. That means Kara got to show what she could do though she was no longer in the running to win the moolah or Banana Republic mentorship.
Instead of discussing this week’s garments that disappointed guest judge Iman, let’s check out what we have to look forward to in the season 2 finale which will air March 3. My picks for the standout garment from each collection are below. Can you match the designer to the piece without sneaking a peek?

(L-R) Daniel V., Santino, Kara, Chloe
*pique: a weaving style characterized by raised parallel cords or fine ribbing

What, no spoiler warning about the sneak peak to the upcoming episode?!
Do people really think Santino has that much talent? It seems that he gets by each week because the guest judge appreciates that he’s different from the rest. Different does not mean good! The sequin thing was hideous. Does having a point of view really overcome poor design?
Looking at the Olympus Fashion Week dresses (since you made me), yes I picked out the designers pretty easily. I had hoped that Chloe would use her great eye and do something more exciting. With the exception of the opening in the middle, the dress looks like it could already be on the Banana shevles. Santino’s model looks so looong… why not have her hair pulled up? And I thought Daniel’s jacket was interesting at first but the more I look it the more I’m reminded of Austin Power’s fembots. The top buttons are at an odd place, don’t you think? Lastly, it seems that Kara took the judges comments to heart. I like her strong lines and color.
