This week the challenge was to dress the My Scene version of the most famous doll around: Barbie. If there’s one thing the judges made clear last season, it was to follow the directions; designs need to be unique, but not go too far outside the box. It’s unfortunate that Raymundo chose the third project to make a statement about girls and mommies. He left the judges almost no choice but to oust him for creating “When I Grow Up To Be A Beach Bum Barbie.” On the other hand, Marla’s model looked like hooker Barbie. She should have been the one to hit the street, but the other designers on the scene like to tease the self-taught seamstress, so I suppose the producers kept her around for interest. All TV is at least somewhat fabricated you know.
Additional note: Nick is the greatest! Talented and gracious. Take note Santino.

Marla’s barbie did look like a hooker! I hope that wasn’t what she envisioned in the beginning. Although the short mini is actually something that girls that age wear so I thought it was a tad more appropriate. (maybe?) But here’s my question. Even if Marla is self-taught, shouldn’t she be able to sew? A good portion of the women in the world know how to sew and my guess is that the majority did not go to Parsons.
Nick’s outfit was fab. What’s up with Santino sulking in the corner? I guess it’s pretty embarassing when you act like you’ve won something on national television only to be asked to leave the stage. He’s going to be fiesty (and probably very annoying).
